Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

AHPRA works with National Boards to regulate registered health practitioners in Australia. It manages practitioner registration and the public register, and supports the scheme that psychologists practise under.

Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA)

The Psychology Board of Australia regulates psychologists to protect the public. It sets registration standards and professional requirements, and manages concerns and notifications about psychologists.

Australian Psychological Society (APS)

The APS is the main professional association for psychologists in Australia. It provides professional resources, learning and advocacy for the psychology profession.

Australian Association of Psychologists Inc (AAPi)

AAPi is a national professional association for psychologists. It supports members through advocacy and professional community.

Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

The OAIC is the national regulator for privacy and freedom of information. It provides guidance and handles complaints relevant to how health services collect, store and use personal information.

Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC)

The ACCC is Australia's national competition and consumer regulator. It is relevant to psychology practices through Australian Consumer Law, including truthful advertising, clear fees and fair trading.

Medicare Australia

Medicare is Australia's public health system, including rebates for eligible health services. Services Australia provides Medicare information and supports Medicare claiming processes.

Better Access (via Medicare)

The Better Access initiative provides Medicare benefits to help people access mental health professionals and care. Eligible clients may be able to access Medicare rebates for psychology sessions with a GP referral.
