Cognitive Assessments
Understanding Your Unique Thinking and Learning Profile
At Infinite Pathways Psychology, we understand that every brain processes information differently. Our neuroaffirming, strengths-based cognitive assessments provide insight into thinking, problem-solving, memory and learning abilities for children, adolescents and adults.
For Children & Adolescents
Cognitive assessments help identify learning patterns, strengths and areas where support may be helpful. They guide educational planning and can assist in diagnosing Intellectual Disability where appropriate.
Funding Support
Assessments can strengthen
applications for school support (e.g., DIP funding) and guide practical strategies. See our School Support Services page for more
information.
For Adults
Assessments provide insight into strengths and challenges in thinking, learning and problem-solving. They are useful for career planning, further education or evaluating intellectual functioning.
The Process Usually Involves
- Initial session to discuss history, strengths, challenges and goals
- Standardised assessment tools measure key thinking skills, such as attention, memory, processing speed and problem-solving
- Comprehensive report with recommendations for wellbeing, home and school/work
- Feedback session to explore the findings and plan next steps
Our Approach
- Recognises cognitive differences as a natural part of human diversity
- Focuses on understanding and self-acceptance, rather than "fixing" differences
- Aims to reduce anxiety around the assessment process
- Empowers individuals and families with understanding and practical direction
- Provides a report with individualised recommendations to support learning, work and daily functioning and to guide next steps
